There is a very good chance that you have heard of Mitch McConnell, who is a longtime lawmaker that has been dubbed ‘the most conservative leader in the history of the United States Senate’. He has been able to make a name for himself in the world of politics as being one of the very conservative leaders for both the Republican and Democratic parties. What you may not know about Mitch McConnell though, is that he was at one time married to a woman named Sherrill Redmon. The two would be married from 1968 to 1980, which is when they would decide that it was in their best interest to go their separate ways.

Who is Sherrill Redmon?
As was previously mentioned, Sherrill Redmon was the first wife of the career politician named Mitch McConnell. In case you are unaware of who Mitch McConnell is, he was the main person who opposed the recent $2,000 stimulus checks to the American people and one of the biggest President Donald Trump supporters until President Biden won office. He would then quickly welcome Biden to office.
Sherrill and Mitch would be married for more than 12 years, eventually filing for divorce. During those 12 years though, the two would be able to bring three children into the world together. Their children would be named Elly, Porter, and Claire. While you hear about Mitch in the news all the time, there is not a whole lot of information that is known about his children with Sherrill.
Oddly enough, Sherrill would be very involved with feminism and helping to promote it. At the very same time, she would also be asked about her ex-husband all the time as well. But as any independent woman would do, Sherrill refused to speak about Mitch in any way, shape or form. Mitch McConnell is the second person from Kentucky to ever serve as the Majority Leader within the United States Senate. On top of that, he is also the longest serving Republican Leader in the United States Senate that the United States has ever seen. Essentially, he has held his position for a very long time and is the leader of the Republican Senate. With a very long career in politics, Mitch has been able to build his reputation to that of the ‘master tactician’.
At one point in his life, he was married to Sherrill Redmon for 12 years. The two would eventually realize that they would be better off not being married and get divorced. Mitch is now married for a second time, this time to the new love of his life, Secretary Elaine Chao. She is the United States Secretary of Transportation. While he does not have any children with his current wife, he does have three children with his first wife, Sherrill Redmon. Mitch would first be nominated to the Senate back in 1984 and has been able to keep his position for the past 36 years. He has been able to use his time on the Senate to enhance his power and role, eventually working his way to one of the most powerful Senate members for the entire Republican party.
Recently taking some bad press for being one of President Donald Trump’s biggest supporters and enablers, there have been many different controversies that have come to light as of late on the internet. While there are many different controversies that are just that, controversies, it is not known how the future will play out for Mitch and his questionable tactics.
As for his ex-wife Sherrill, she is the loving and devoted mother to all three of his and her children, spending all of her time making sure that they are able to get every and anything that they require in order to succeed. While there is no telling what the future holds for Sherrill, what is known is that she will continue to go out of her way to provide for her children and make sure that they have every opportunity that they deserve.
