Every day you hear about some type of celebrity divorce that you had no idea was going to happen. The famous NFL star Troy Aikman is not going to be any type of exception to that. Back in April of 2011, Troy Aikman and his wife at the time, Rhonda Worthey, were a very trending topic. After spending more than 10 years as husband and wife, the two would decide that it was in both of their best interests to go their separate ways. The Story of Rhonda and Troy
Rhonda and Troy have a love story that goes all the way back to the 90s, 1998 to be exact. It would be around this time when the two would find each other and become lovers. Dating for more than one and a half years, Rhonda and Troy would decide that it was time for them to settle down together and get started on building a family together. Rhonda and Troy would seal the deal and get married in April of the year 2000, the wedding taking place at Troy’s mansion that was located out in Plano, Texas. Just one year later and the two would become blessed with their very first child, her being born in August of 2001. One year later they would be blessed with their second daughter, this one being born in July of 2002.
Rhonda and Troy would then go on to spend the next 10 years as a happily married couple before they decided that it was time to split. Once the two decided that it was over between them, they would have their divorce finalized on April 12, 2011. After they had successfully divorced from each other, they would each get an equal share of custody over their two daughters by the court system. While Troy would move on and get back in the relationship game, it is unclear whether or not Rhonda has moved on and gotten involved with another relationship or not. She has not remarried since her divorce to Troy, but it is not known whether or not she has or is currently dating anybody.
Why Did Rhonda and Troy Decide to Divorce?
The actual reason that Rhonda and Troy decided that they no longer wanted to be in a relationship together remains unknown to this very day. While the two did come out publicly to make the announcement that they had decided to get a divorce and go their separate ways, the did nothing to disclose the reason that they had come to this decision. So, it is anybody’s guess as to why Rhonda and Troy ultimately decided that it was not going to work out any longer.
The two would come out and say that their children meant everything to them and that they both planned to stay deeply committed to helping them grow up to be the best people that they can possibly be.
In an interview that Troy did after the divorce had been finalized, he would admit that deciding to separate from Rhonda was one of the most difficult decisions that he had ever had to make. This makes sense when you think about it, as the two had been living together as a married couple for more than 11 years. With that being said, it is safe to assume that there were some underlying problems within their marriage that had been brewing for quite some time. If there wasn’t, why would the two decide that they were better off without each other?
They would decide that it would be best for everyone involved if they simply went their separate ways. When this decision was made, the two’s happy lives would come crashing down and the reasons why are still only known to the two of them.
Rhonda Worthey and the Real Housewives of Dallas
The Real Housewives reality television show franchise has been able to grow into the biggest reality show series in the entire United States. If you have never seen the show before, it essentially focuses on the daily lives of some very high-profile ladies who reside in various parts of the U.S. Beginning in 2012, the show would continue to pick up popularity and expand to new cities. Rhonda has become best known for not being Troy Aikman’s ex-wife, but rather as one of the stars that are on the reality series.
Prior to the show debuting, there was some speculation that Rhonda would be one of the ‘housewives’ that was a regular cast member on the show. With that being said, the show would continuously push back, not confirming who the cast was until February of 2016.
Despite everything that Rhonda had going on, she would unfortunately not make the list of regular cast members that would be on the show, even though she was a very high-profile woman.
Rhonda Worthey Gets Arrested
One and a half years after Rhonda and Troy were divorced, Rhonda would find herself being arrested while at a high school for supposedly being drunk in public. Once arrested, she was transported to Collin County jail after she was found drunk in Plano, Texas. Because of this, she would be charged with public intoxication. While there is more than likely much more to this story, the police would not release any of the details surrounding her arrest.
What is known about the incident, is that Rhonda was in possession of two different water bottles that both had an alcohol smell coming from them. She would eventually be released from custody later that very same day on a bond that totaled $269. This would be the one and only scandal that Rhonda would find herself in the middle of.
