Most of you may have heard about the American rapper Tyga or Michael Ray Stevenson. Pasionaye Nguyen is the mother of Tyga. She is a single mother and raised her son, who is also her only child. There is nothing much known about Tyga’s father Michael Stevenson.
Early Life
Pasionaye Nguyen was born in 1971 in the US. She happens to be an Afro-Asian woman of Vietnamese descent. Despite the fact that she is an Afro-Asian with Vietnamese ancestry, she prefers to hold her American nationality. Pasionaye Nguyen’s mother was Kim Nguyen, who was born in 1944. Kim is pure Vietnamese and presently resides in Los Angeles. Pasionaye also has a younger sister by the name of Cece Nguyen. According to Cece, their mother Kim is not that fluent in spoken English.
Pasionaye Nguyen raised her son Tyga in a low-socio economic area of Compton. Since she was a single mother, she had to face numerous struggles in life. She was a victim of domestic violence by her companion Michael Stevenson. He is behind bars at the moment.
Pasionaye Nguyen’s Married Life
When it comes to Michael Stevenson, Tyga’s father, he is of Afro Jamaican descent. Pasionaye and her husband stayed in Compton, California. Tyga was born when Pasionaye was barely 16 years old. This was on November 19, 1989. Although the entire world knew that she raised her son single handedly, there is nothing much to support that she was ever married to Michael.
There are some sources who say that Michael used to lead a pretty rough life. He was ill reputed in Compton. There were several charges against him and was often found behind bars. This prevented him from giving proper time to his family. Due to his disrespectful and violent nature, the couple soon separated.
There is nothing that proves that Pasionaye married some other guy. Although Tyga has posted several photos of his mother, he has never spoken of whether his mother had ever remarried or not. Thus, there is not much evidence to support that Pasionaye Nguyen had any affair after her divorce with Michael.

Tyga, Pasionaye Nguyen’s only child, was born on the 19th of November, 1989. He was born in Compton, California and from his early childhood he showed immense interest listening to the likes of Eminem, Camron, Fabolous, and Lil Wayne. Tyga is also popular as the Grammy Award-winning rapper for Deuces. He had performed for the song with Kevin McCall and Chris Brown in 2010.
Till the age of 12 years, Tyga was raised by his mother Pasionaye Nguyen in Compton, California. After that they moved to Gardena, California. Pasionaye is extremely proud of her rapper son Tyga who has tasted success from a very early age. His most popular track on the album was Deuces. It comes at number 14 in Billboard Hot 100.
Although the son’s real name was Michael Ray Stevenson, he was nicknamed as Tyga by his mother Pasionaye Nguyen. It basically means Tiger Woods. She preferred to call him Tiger since it is an animal of a mixed ancestry, i.e. African, Asian, American, Native American, and Dutch. The stage name of Tyga also denotes “Thank You God Always”. Tyga’s career choice of being a rapper was always supported by his mother Pasionaye Nguyen. Nonetheless, she was always worried about the rising success of her son.
It was in 2014 that Pasionaye Nguyen was invited by Kimmel to his show “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. Kimmel had sent out a request to Pasionaye Nguyen to feature on his “Words From Your Mother” series. She was asked to perform the lines from her son Tyga’s song. However, she was very sportive and boldly read out the lyrics from Tyga’s Rack City.
