Ozzy Ozbourne – Mama I’m Coming Home Song & Music Video
One of the greatest musicians of all time is no dauntedly going to be Ozzy Osbourne. When you ask anybody about what some of their favorite Ozzy songs are, there is going to be no doubt that they will say that ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ is going to be one of them. Being the third hit single off of his 1991 album that was titled No More Tears, Ozzy Osbourne was a one of the most prolific heavy metal singers of the 1980s and 90s.
Mama I’m Coming Home
Produced by John Purdell, he would also be the one who would write and even record a sample of the song prior to the recordings that would end up on Ozzy’s No More Tears album. Being one of the greatest power ballads of all time, this would actually be Ozzy Osbourne’s only solo song to make it into the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, eventually peeking out all the way up at the number 28 spot. The only other top 40 songs that Ozzy would have, would be a duet that was called ‘Close My Eyes Forever’, which he did with Lita Ford, and then again in the year 2019, when he would partner up with hip-hop sensation Post Malone to make the song ‘Take What You Want’. Both songs, his hit with Lita Ford and Post Malone, would end up peaking at the number 8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. ‘Take What You Want’ would also go on to peak at the number 2 spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
‘Mama I’m Coming Home’ Music Video
The hit single ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’, would end up having a total of two different music videos created for it. The first one would be a surreal video that Ozzy did not end up liking, as he just felt like the plot of the music video did not keep true to the concept of the song. Because of this, Ozzy would not agree to move forwards with that particular video. The second music video would then go on to be created using the director Samuel Bayer. This second video would go on to augment how Ozzy felt, going on to compare some of the effects that were used in the video to those of the hazy smoke effects that were used in Nirvana’s music video for ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. Oddly enough, it would be Bayer that was the director of that music video as well.
When it comes to Ozzy Osbourne songs, there are going to be many to choose from as he has been around for upwards of 40 years making music. What makes his songs so special is the fact that he has continuously been able to create music that not only appeals to the masses, but that most people are able to relate with. Because of this, songs like ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ are going to be classics that will be around for eternity.
