Kid Cudi Biography, Top Songs & Albums and Net Worth
Kid Cudi, originally born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, was born January 30, 1985. He is known for not only being a well-celebrated rapper, but also a guitarist, actor, film composer, model, music video director, singer, songwriter, and record producer. It is safe to say that Kid Cudi has achieved a slightly accomplished level that most people can only dream of.
His debut album, which was released back in 2008, was a mixtape that was called A Kid Named Cudi. This would be the first time that Cudi would receive any kind of major recognition for his music. Later in the same year, he would catch the attention of another rapper turned producer named Kanye West. Kanye would take a huge interest in Kid Cudi, eventually giving him a record deal and signing him to his record label, GOOD Music. Since signing with Kanye’s music label, Cudi has been able to achieve even more recognition by co-writing Kanye’s his album, 808’s & Heartbreaks. On top of that, Cudi has also gone on to release more of his own music as well.
Moving forward, there are rumors that Kid Cudi’s next studio album is going to be produced only by Kanye himself and that fans can expect to hear some amazing collaborations that they have not heard the likes of before. While we wait for this much-anticipated next album to drop, here are some of Kid Cudi’s top hits that he has released over the course of his music career so far.
‘By Design’ (featuring Andre Benjamin)
Released in 2016, this song features Outkast’s Andre 3000 and is from Cudi’s Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ album. The tropical themed beat feels like it was almost designed specifically to have the voice of Andre with his verse on this track. This one makes it extremely easy for you to get into the song.
‘Just What I Am’ (featuring King Chip)
Coming off of Cudi’s 2013 album that was titled Indicud, this track features King chip and has become one of the top songs among Kid Cudi fans and followers. In fact, the entire album has essentially become a cult favorite and helped to boost Cudi’s popularity more than any other of his albums. This is due to the fact that this album is far better than most of the people out there think it really is. As for the track ‘Just What I Am’, it is somewhat of an insight of a sense, giving you an example of who Kid Cudi really is. However, if you listen to it carefully, you will get the idea that it is almost more of an expression of his individuality as opposed to anything else.
‘The Prayer’
One of the hits off of Cudi’s mixtape, A Kid Named Cudi, ‘The Prayer’ actually takes a shot at the Flo Rida song, ‘Low’. In this track, Cudi goes on to say “I’m gon make my words important so if I slip away, if I die today, the last thing you remember won’t be about some Apple Bottom jeans with the boots with the fur.” Since Flo Rida is the one who raps about the Apple Bottom jeans and the boots with the fur, it is safe to assume that he was the one being targeted with that particular verse.
’09 Freestyle’
Coming off his Dat Kid From Cleveland album, Cudi essentially talks about all of the new found fame and wealth that he has amassed with his success, as well as how he has been able to cope with all of the changes that had happened so quickly. This track is essentially Cudi’s song about how hard that he’s been working on becoming mainstream and how he has finally made it song.
‘Pursuit of Happiness’ (featuring MGMT and Ratatat)
Not many people will argue with the statement that this track is essentially Kid Cudi’s musical legacy. The song is just so beautiful in the way that the beat compliments the lyrics, and now toss in some help from both MGMT and Ratatat and you have potentially the perfect song. This track just happens to be packed full of that Kid Cudi gold that we all love.
‘Day ‘N’ Nite’
This track was originally debuted at the number 5 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and is simply an all around great song. With a beat that will get your head bobbing and lyrics that you can relate too, this is another one of Cudi’s top songs of all time.
While there are many other Kid Cudi songs that you can argue should be on the Kid Cudi greatest hits list, to go over all of them would take more time than is humanly possible. With that being said, these are some of his top hit singles that have helped elevate his status as a musician to what it is today.
Kid Cudi Net Worth
With so many hit singles having been released, you may be wondering to yourself what Kid Cudi’s net worth might be. With several successful studio albums being released combined with all of the other projects that Kid Cudi has going on in his career, he has been able to amass himself a net worth of over $5 million dollars. Not too bad for a kid from Cleveland, Ohio.
While there are only rumors of future albums to come, all we can do is wait and hope that the next album that Kid Cudi does release will drop sooner than later. In the meantime, we are going to have to be content with listening to his hits from the past. While this list goes over some of them, there are many more that are not on this list that could have easily been. Either way, just be sure that you are able to listen to the Kid Cudi songs that you enjoy the most and that you are able to relate to. If you do this, you will be able to enjoy Cudi’s amazing music until he releases his next album.
